About Haskell Indian Nations University

Haskell Indian Nations University is an accredited institution of higher education located in Lawrence, Kansas. The university sits near the confluence of the Kaw and Wakarusa Rivers and along over nine hundred acres of wetlands. Haskell is operated by the Bureau of Indian Education, a unit of the U.S. Department of the Interior, in partial fulfillment of Federal Indian Trust Responsibility. All students are enrolled members of federally recognized American Indian Tribes or Alaska Native villages or eligible descendants. Ours is a uniquely Indigenous learning environment, a gathering place for scholars from across Indian country and beyond. The curriculum emphasizes issues and perspectives of Indigenous peoples, communities, and nations.
