Richard Brewer

Assistant Coach

Coach Brewer is an Oglala Lakota from Pine Ride, South Dakota and is entering his 20th season on the Fighting Indian Football Coaching Staff. He spent the first five years coaching Defensive Backs under former Head Coach Gary Tanner and in his sixth season moved to the offensive side of the ball where he has remained since.

Coach Brewer previously served as offensive coordinator in 2002, 2003, 2004. Since then he has coached the running backs, wider receivers and quarterbacks before being moved back to the offensive coordinator at the start of the 2010 season.

Coach Brewer and his wife Reta reside in Lawrence. His daughter Melissa, a 2009 graduate with High Honors from the School of Business at Haskell Indian Nations University is currently pursuing a masters degree from Baker University.

Jimmy Snyder

Assistant Coach

Coach Jimmy Snyder returns to the Fighting Indian Staff after three years away. He has spent the past two years attaining his Masters of Education degree at the University of Oregon followed by a year of teaching and serving as head varsity football coach at the Kickapoo Nation School in Powhattan, Kansas (2009)

He is a tribal member of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas. He is also a University of Kansas and Haskell Alumnus having started at linebacker for the Fighting Indians at the junior college level (92-93). Coach Snyder has previously coached at Haskell for seven seasons as a defensive assistant(02-08), as well as having coaching experience at the high school level in both his home state of Florida and California. Coach Snyder is very excited to be coaching at a school and in a community he holds dear to his heart.

Coach Snyder resides in Lawrence, Kansas with his wife Lori Tapahonso and his two daughters Briana and Chamisa Edmo.

Wayne Thompson, Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin, is in his third year with the Indians Football Program. He currently coaches the defensive line and other areas of the defense. Wayne is married to wife Debra.
