About Us
The “Working Group” has several goals. Preeminent among these goals are the commitments to
- Prepare future generations of AI/AN geoscience professionals, educators, and a geoscience literate AI/AN workforce;
- Ensure that our indigenous tribal knowledge of landscapes and climates are valued, used and incorporated into our tribal exercise of geoscience education and research;
- Establish a collaborative effort between federal agencies, tribes and tribal colleges in order to make sure geoscience education and research opportunities for American Indians and Alaska Natives are integrated and coordinated; and, finally to,
- Advance all of the above in our own “backyard” using the latest information technologies – in communities and on Native lands - so that all of our relatives or relations may benefit from the establishment of a web-based clearinghouse for accurate information and knowledge about the impact of global warming on indigenous life ways.
