Building Capacity: Presidential Honors
The Presidential Honors Program was established in August of 2007. Created to recognize and honor our former American Indian Haskell Presidents; Dr. Gerald E. Gipp, Dr. Robert M. Martin, and Dr. Karen Gayton Swisher, and their valued service and contribution to Indian Education.
Dr. Gerald E. Gipp Scholar Exchange Program
The Dr. Gerald E. Gipp Scholar Exchange Program is a multi-faceted educational opportunity established to promote educational opportunities in academe. In addition to well-known academic exchanges between colleges and universities, it also serves as a capacity building component of professional development. Whereby, Gipp Scholars are encouraged, and provided with the opportunity to pursue post-baccalaureate degrees, through reduced teaching loads, and sabbatical leave. Full bio >> |
Dr. Robert M. Martin International Entrepreneurial Program
The Dr. Robert M. Martin International Entrepreneurial Program is a comprehensive program created to globalize Haskell Indian Nations University. There are three elements to the Martin Program; co-curricular exchange between Tribal Colleges and Universities, study abroad initiatives, and a service learning/field school outreach projects. The objective for participants in the Martin Program is capacity building. Ultimately the goal for our participants is to utilize their expertise in their work with Indian communities, especially in which they are members of, as well as enhance their own personal portfolio. Dr. Karen Gayton Swisher Educator Mentor Program
The Dr. Karen Gayton Swisher Educator Mentor Program is designed to provide practiced K-12 teachers with mentorship strategies to enhance the quality of experience of the first year teacher. The Swisher Mentor will engage in training at Haskell Indian Nations University during the summer months to assist in the transition of the first year teacher to the K-12 setting. Full bio >> |
